Rhyd-y-creuau - Snowdonia

RYC

From the Centre you can explore the diverse habitats and environments of Snowdonia National Park; from glaciated valleys, rivers and wooded hillsides to the tourist honeypot of Betws-y-coed. All our Eco Challenge sites are local, so when you are here time spent on a bus is minimised and time spent out and about is maximised.

The Centre itself is a Georgian house set in two hectares of wooded grounds with eco-centre status, allowing you to experience a sustainable lifestyle, only 1 hour 50 minutes from Manchester and 3 hours 40 minutes from the M25.

At the gateway to Snowdonia National Park, 1 mile (1.5km) from the A5 / A470 junction at Betws-y-coed and Betws-y-coed Station.

The Activities

Adventurous activities include climbing and abseiling at the crag on the skyline above the Centre, mountain walking in Snowdonia and gorge scrambling in a local stream. The Centre is ALAA licensed for all these activities.

Alongside these, the Centre provides various habitat management and conservation tasks such as tree planting and coppicing, furniture construction and bird/bat box making.

The site is well located for various habitat investigations particularly freshwater stream dipping explorations (linked to the Science KS3 National Curriculum) and investigating human impact on the environment in the National Park honeypot of Betws-y-coed (linked to the Geography and Citizenship KS3 National Curriculum).
