Margam Discovery Centre- South Wales
Margam Discovery Centre is a new eco-development set in the magnificent historic landscape of Margam Park and is run in partnership with Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council. It lies in 850 acres of beautiful parkland within the South Wales Valleys where guests can explore the Iron Age hill fort, 12 Century Cistercian Abbey remains, Margam Abbey Church, a Celtic Stones Museum and a beautiful 18th Century Orangery. All offer opportunities for historical investigations. Spanning both a coastal plain and upland area there are a wide range of opportunities for geographical and scientific study.
The Centre is 5 miles (8 km) from Port Talbot town centre and 4 miles (6.5km) from Port Talbot Parkway Station. It is about 1 mile from junction 38 of the M4
The Activities
As part of its Eco Challenge programme the Centre offers a range of adventurous activities such as gorge walking or climbing, exploration of the natural world through a dusk walk and participating in a practical conservation task to help maintain the grounds in which the Centre is set. The Centre is also able to offer a variety of habitat investigations alongside exploring how humans have an impact on those environments.Accommodation
