What is Eco Challenge?

Eco Challenge is an innovative programme for Key Stage 3 (11-14 year old) consisting of a three night residential experience at an FSC Centre followed by three sessions of post course activity in the schools grounds or local community.

The short residential will help students experience and enjoy the natural environment as well as benefit from the personal development which is often associated with being away from home. Support will be offered on return to school to help apply newly learned skills for the benefit of all the community.

The combination of the activities during the residential course and post course sessions should enable students to achieve

  • Improved personal and social development skills including increased self confidence, team skills and communications skills
  • Increased awareness, knowledge and understanding of the natural environment
  • Increased pride in local green spaces
  • Increased awareness, knowledge and understanding of environmental and sustainable issues
